Ayurveda, which translates as "knowledge of life," dates back 5,000 years to the ancient Sanskrit texts, the Vedas. It's a system of healing that examines physical constitution, emotional nature, and spiritual outlook in the context of the universe.

ABHYANGAM (OIL MASSAGE)

Ayurvedic procedure of application of medicated oil over body with certain amount of (very mild) pressure in specific directions.

Patient should be seated on the droni/table, with leg extended. The oil with optimum temperature should be applied to headfirst in the anterior fontanellae and then the whole scalp, then to whole body gently.

INDICATIONS:
  • Paralysis, Back pain, Body ache, Rejuvenation, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chronic pains, Insomnia, Circulatory problems, Depression, Headache, Anxiety and stress, Asthma and bronchitis, Frozen Shoulder, Sports injuries, Sprain, Gout.

DHANYAMALDHARA (MEDICATED WATER)

Warm Dhanyamla is poured with kernels/mugs by two attendants standing on either sides of the droni. The temperature should be around 40oC. Dhara should be poured at a medium speed.

INDICATION:
  • Reduces stiffness, Inflammation and pain of the joints, Makes the body strong, Helps for relaxation of muscles, Promotes nourishment.

PIZHICHIL (PORING OF MEDICATED OIL)

Warm oil is poured with cotton squeeze by two attendants standing on either sides of the droni. The temperature should be around 40oC. Dhara should be poured at a medium speed.

INDICATION:
  • Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Paralysis, Hypertension, Muscular atrophy, Multiple sclerosis, Lumbar Spondylitis, Cervical spondylitis, Paraplegia, Increase blood circulation.

NASYAM (NASAL INSTILATION)

How Does Nasya Treatment Work?
The medicaments administered through the nostrils pervade into the nervous (Brain) and venous system (Blood circulation) present in and around the nostrils. Then they evacuate the morbidity present or distributed in nearby area. Thus it relieves the blockage of the channels and the diseases are cured effectively.

Benefits of Nasya:
  • The joints, sinus, tendons and bones of his cranium acquire great strength.
  • His face becomes cheerful and plump and his voice becomes mallow, firm and stentorian.
  • Diseases like Migraine, Rhinitis, headache, facial paralysis, etc. can be alleviated with the practice of nasya karma.

PINDA SWEDAS (PRESSURE WITH BOLUS)

Pinda sweda is done with the boluses of various choornas lemon,egg. Leaves rise according to conditions . The hot pottali should be gently applied over the body.

INDICATION:
  • Muscle cramps, Muscular spasm, Removes water retention in the joints and also joints stiffness Improves joint movements, Lubricate the joints, Stops the degeneration of cartilage, Nourishes the muscles, Increases the blood circulation to the effected joint.

SIRODHARA (OIL ON HEAD)

Medicated oil is poured over the forehead.

INDICATION:
  • It prevents baldness and premature greying of hair, Soothes the nerves and improves blood circulation, Removes stress, relaxes mind, Improves neuro-muscular conduction, Relaxes and rejuvenates the mind and senses.

VASTHI (ENEMA)

It helps in removal of gas that causes pain and also in removing toxins for purpose of body detoxification.

INDICATION:
  • Constipation, neurological ailments, paralysis, flatulence, lower backache, gout and rheumatism.

SNEHAPANAM (INTAKE OF MEDICATED GHEE)

Snehapanam is an ayurvedic therapeutic procedure characterized by oral intake of medicated ghee or oil for internal purification. The procedure involves intake of medicated ghee or oil on empty stomach to remove hard-core toxins and wastes from the body.

INDICATION:
  • Digestive disorders like ulcers and IBS, Skin diseases like psoriasis, rashes, boils, Diabetes mellitus, chronic constipation, Epilepsy, Infertility, Psychiatric diseases, Peptic ulcer, Haemorrhoids etc.

NadiSweda 

NadiSweda is derived from Sanskrit word ‘Nadi’ means small tubes and ‘sweda’ means sweating or perspiration. It is a type of swedana, which form an integral part of panchakarma detoxification.

INDICATION:
  • Paralysis, Vataraktha, Arthritis, Bronchitis

Kadivasthi 

Kadivasthi is a Ayurvedic therapy which involves retaining warm ayurvedic oil over the affected area bordered with herbal and dough paste followed by a gentle massage

INDICATION:
  • Chronic Back Ache, Degenerative Spine Changes, Disc Prolapse, Sciatica

Greevavasthi

Greevavasthi is bathing the neck region with medicated oil or freshly prepared herbal decoction.The procedure does oleation and sudation around the neck simultaneously.

INDICATION:
  • Cervical Spondylosis, Cervical Spondylitis, Vertigo, Frozen Shoulder, Cervical Disk Lesion.

Udwarthanam

Udwarthanam is a  special therapeutic deep tissue massage in upward direction using herbal powders.Udwarthana pacifies kaphadosha,liquefies the fat,stabilizes the body parts,best to improve the complexion of the skin.

INDICATION:
  • Hemiplegia, Parkinsonism, Muscular Dystrophy, Motor Neuron Disorders, Obesity.

Shirovasthi

Shirovasthi is a special technique to administer medicated oil on the head.using an elongated cap or bandage for a prescribed period of time.

  • Migraines, Insomnia,anxiety,depression, Mental stress,fatigue, sychological, disorders, Paralysis.

Thalapothichil

Thalapothichil is a special special procedure of application of medicated paste on the head.It is a important treatment for many major and minor diseases that afflict the head.

  • Hypertension, Insomnia and sleep disorders, Premature graying the hair, Migrane, Anxiety,Depression
